Review: Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pack - Pomegranate Bubble Sleeping Pack

Review: Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pack - Pomegranate Bubble Sleeping Pack

Not sure about you, but I am a mask lover. I love masks! All sorts of masks, from sheet mask and jelly masks to sleeping masks and wash-offs; I have tried many. I like some, dislike some, have a handful that I love, and I am always looking to discover new masks to add to my collection. Last year I rediscovered one of my favorite brands, Innisfree. Through their global shop and sales I ordered my first haul, then my second haul and my third haul will probably happen within the next few month. When I rediscovered Innisfree, I was determined to try out all of their products that I have not tried before. I found a lot of their products intrigued me and I wanted to test them out to see if they'll do wonders to my skin.

When I came across their Capsule Recipe Packs, I thought they were just the cutest things and would be great for travelling. I wanted to try them all, but limited myself to just a couple of types for now. I mean I can always buy more in the future right? I ended up buying 24 Capsule Recipe Packs, 4 out of the 5 types of capsule sleeping packs and the seaweed scrub. Out of the 24 capsule recipe packs, 5 are these Pomegranate Bubble packs, there's also 5 Wine packs, 5 Bija+Aloe packs, 6 Green Tea packs, and 3 seaweed scrub packs. I figured 5 pomegranate packs would be enough for me to test out whether I like them or not, since each pack can be used multiple times. Alright, enough chit chat, let's get on to the review and see whether these will be great or not!

2 Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pomegranate Bubble Sleeping Pack

Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pack - Pomegranate Bubble Sleeping Pack
10ml, $2.5

Product Description: An oxygen bubble sleeping mask formulated with pomegranate extracts, aloe leaf juice, green tea extracts, and more herbal extracts. This pomegranate bubbling sleeping pack works to enhance the firmness of the skin and help the skin retain its elasticity. The oxygen bubbles help the skin absorb the sleeping pack's active ingredients to maximize all of the mask's benefits. Use as the last step of the night time skin care routine. Take an appropriate amount and spread onto the face. Massage gently and the oxygen bubbles will begin to form. The oxygen bubbles are small and look foam like, but do not be alarmed. Once the foam like oxygen bubbles are formed all over the face, gently press in the formula with your hands. This will allow the skin to absorb the active ingredients in the mask with the help of the oxygen bubbles. After all the formula has been pressed into the skin, simply go to sleep. Make sure to wash the sleeping pack off the next morning!

Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pack - Pomegranate Bubble Sleeping Pack

My Thoughts: Personally, this has to be my least favorite of the 4 types Capsule Recipe Sleeping Packs I've tried thus far. There are a couple of reasons why it is my least favorite, but it does not mean I hate it. The issues I have with this capsule recipe pack are small and they range from the scent to the time is takes from application to absorption, however the biggest reason why it's my least favorite is skin type related. Simply put, it's not really for my skin type. I have combination to oily skin that leans more combo in winter times and leans more oily in summer times. Generally, my t-zone will stay oily in winter times (but not as much as summer times) and my cheeks leans to the dry side. So I don't mind using products that's a little more heavy and moisturizing in the winter times.

At first glance, this seem like a great product, it's a little heavy but not too much and has firming properties as well. However, I came to find it's not all so great on my combo skin. On one hand, it works really amazing on my cheeks. It moisturizes my cheeks to keep it soft and dryness free, plus it keeps it nice and firm. On the other hand, it creates troubles for my t-zone. It has not break me out yet, which is great, but if I apply this sleeping pack to my t-zone area, I'd wake up the next morning with super oily t-zone. Not pleasant at all. I think this Capsule Recipe Pack would be better for people with normal to dry skin types than people with combo to oily skin types.

sleeping pack is light pink in color

As for the scent, you can tell its quite artificial. Which is one of the small reasons why I do not like this sleeping pack as much as the others. Due to its artificial scent, I am more aware of it and thus making the mask not as relaxing when applied. The sleeping pack has a light pink color to it and as you can see from the ingredients list, its got Red No. 227 added to it. I wish they would have skipped the coloring, but it's not too big of a deal.

Since we are on the topic of ingredients, I want to say that this bubbling sleeping pack has got one of my favorite ingredients. Which is ceramide. Ceramide is known to effectively moisturize dry skin and shield sensitive skin from environmental damages. Which is probably why my dry-ish cheeks feel amazing in the morning after using this pack. Aside from ceramide, this pomegranate bubble sleeping pack also contains a bunch of amazing extracts and ingredients. Some notable ingredients are pomegranate extract, Centella Asiatica extract, licorice, orchid, aloe leaf juice, prickly pear, and Shea butter.

Pomegranate Bubble sleeping pack, the bubbles look more like foam

Now, on to the absorption and bubbling of this sleeping pack. I was most excited to try this sleeping pack due to its bubbling element. I was expecting some nice size bubbles. However, what you really get is what you see above, it looks more like small foam bubbles that you can hardly see. (It's like when you try to use foam cleansers on barely wet hands and you get this lame foam effect.) Not the kind of bubbles I was hoping for. Still when your press on it, you'll hear the popping sound, so they are really bubbles, just really, really tiny ones.

Absorption was the other small issue I had with this sleeping pack. This is not just a apply and go pack. It's a you gotta have more than 5 minutes to use this pack kind of deal. Applying is easy, just take an appropriate amount and spread it over the face (avoid eyes and mouth). Massage while spreading, that's how you create the mini bubbles. Now to the slightly time consuming part, the press. Once you've created mini bubbles, it's time to press in the product so the active ingredients can be absorbed by the skin. Make sure to press. Not tap, pat, swipe, you'll want none of that or the absorption would take even longer. Press, is the way to go and even this will take a good minute or two. You don't have to press hard, gently will do and you'll know it's working when you hear mini bubble pops. You might not hear the bubble pop in every spot, but it will occur often.

The bubbling sleeping pack can be sticky when you are massaging/pressing the formula in. This is normal. Do I like it? No. Does it go away eventually? Yes. The stickiness will go away once the formula is absorbed. The majority of the stickiness goes away when there aren't any foam bubbles left on your face. However, there will still be just a bit of stickiness if you touch your face, though it's not so bad and it will eventually go away once the formula is fully absorbed.

resealing issues and alternatives

Now, on to the issue that all Innisfree Capsule Recipe Packs have. The resealing. Although Innisfree provides each capsule pack with a slit that's suppose to help with resealing the product, it doesn't really work well. As seen in the picture above, you are supposed to put the cover through the slit and pull it airtight to keep the product fresh for future uses. However, no matter how you pull, there's just no way to keep it airtight. Seriously, I have tried so many ways to pull the tabs and it just doesn't work. Worry not, there are plenty of other ways to keep the product fresh for future uses, look below.

Lassie'el lid for sleeping pack

One of the easiest reseal methods is to use another lid that fits pretty well over the capsule packs. In this case, I'm using Lassie'el's lid from the Yogurt Massage Mask line (They are on sale right now on WishTrend for only $3.6, so you can easily get a lid with the 4 packs Lassie'el wash off masks and use the lid for small packs like these Innisfree ones in the future).

If lids aren't your thing or you are looking for other options, here are 2 others ways to keep these capsule recipe packs fresh. One is to scoop out the product and put it into another resealable container. Another would be to use something just a tad bigger than the capsule recipe packs and put that on top of it. I would recommend a single eye shadow compact, (or what I used before I got my Lassie'el packs, the Dolly Wink quad eye shadow).

My Rating: ❤ ❤   ♡

Final Thoughts: I had a high expectation for this Pomegranate Bubble Sleeping Pack but it fell short of that. It's not a bad sleeping pack and I do love it on my cheeks right now (#comboskinissues) but it doesn't do justice for my t-zone area. The artificial scent and slow absorption I can do without as well. However, I gave it 3 hearts because of its amazing ingredients and the wonders they do on my dryer than normal cheeks. Seriously, they feel amazing the morning after I use this sleeping pack. Since I bought 5 of these, I had to decide what I wanted to do with the remaining 4. My decision, to keep using it, but only on my cheeks, chin and side forehead. You are probably going to ask, what I am going to do for my t-zone area? The answer is, use another sleeping pack that's better for oily t-zones. Right now I'm using the Green Tea sleeping packs from the same line on my t-zone and the Pomegranate bubble sleeping pack on my cheeks, chin, and side forehead. I think it's a great combination for combo skin types and it seriously makes my skin feel amazing in the morning! Overall, this is a pretty decent sleeping pack but it'll be a lot better for dry skin types than oily. If you have combo skin, you can do what I am doing now, which is to use 2 types of sleeping packs to target the 2 different areas, or find a sleeping pack that will work for combo skin types. Which ever path you decide to take, I hope it will take you one step closer to a healthy and happy skin!

  1. Great review - so detailed! Too bad this wasn't great for your skin type!
I am also a huge mask lover and went a little crazy on Innisfree - but only with the sheet masks! I wish I could have expanded a little more and tried something different!

    1. I hope the pomegranate one works out for you! It just wasn't really for my skin type. The rice ones were sold out when I made my purchase, hope to read some feedback on that one because I still want to get it! ^^

  3. What a thorough, fantastic review on this sleeping pack! I also have oily/combo skin so this probably wouldn't be that great for me, either, although I agree that these little packs from Innisfree are so tempting! I always want to grab a bunch when I lurk their site- I would be interested to see reviews on the rest of the ones you have! #kbeautybloghop
