TonyMoly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar Review

TonyMoly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar Review

Hey Dreamers and Creators!

Korean beauty products are known for many things and one of them is their adorable packaging. A quick search on Dreams To Creations will show you some cutely packaged products. Like the castle hand creamsprincessy lipsticks, or honey pot lip balm. Korean beauty products come in various packaging styles. Some are chic, some are elegant, some are cute, some are majestic, some are simple, and some are just eh um, plain. The market for adorably packaged products didn't used to be as big as today's, but it has been growing.

As someone who likes adorable things, cutely packaged products naturally caught my eyes. I have been eyeing these TonyMoly Petite Bunny Gloss Bars for a long time but never purchased them until this year. I put off buying them for a long time because I didn't want to buy something that I might not use just because it was cute. However, after lusting for it on and off for a long time, I finally decided to get some to try. I almost got all 9 of the colors of these Petite Bunny gloss bars. However, I decided to get a couple to try first before getting any more. So this review will be for the colors #1, #3, and #4.

sticker seals
The gloss bars come with sticker seals.
Colors: The 3 colors I purchased (#1, #3, and #4) are what I consider safety colors, a light pink, a brights pink and a red. The colors are not really pigmented but rather sheer. However, they are somewhat buildable. For me, gloss bars seems to be the same as tinted lip balms. So, it's not going to be super pigmented, however, it'll be pretty and wear-able on a daily basis. Swatches will be near the end.

Scents: In my opinion, #1 Juicy Strawberry has the lightest scent out of the 3. It smells like strawberry candy to me, which I like. #3 Juicy Apple also has a mild scent, but a bit stronger than strawberry. It does smell like apples, like crisp green apples. #4 Juicy Cherry has the strongest scent out of the 3. It's not overwhelming, I'd say it's a bit more than mild at most. The scent was sweet and while it did smell a little like cherries, it didn't fully smell like cherries either. It smelled more like candy and berries.
expiration dates
I put the sticker numbers on the bottom so I can remember which color is which.
Packaging: All 3 of these bunny gloss bars are adorably packaged. Each gloss bar not only looks like a bunny but also come with different facial expression. We have here Sleepy (#4, looks to be sleepy), Winky (#3, looks to be winking), and Spacey (#1, looks to be spaced out).

Texture: The gloss bars feels creamy and glides on easily. Its texture is very similar to that of a lip balm but with a bit of a glossy feel to it.
twist up style

My Thoughts: How adorable are these! I finally have them in my hands and I adore their packaging. I would have bought all 9 but, let's be honest, I wasn't going to use all 9 colors plus I needed to test how well they work first. I picked out 3 colors that I think I would use on a daily basis. I imagined that gloss bars would be something similar to tinted lip balms. Which meant that while there will be some color, it won't be super pigmented.

The first thing I did when I got these home (after taking pictures) was to check out their scents. Since they are juicy strawberry, juicy apple and juicy cherry, I hoped for scents just like their names. Their scents are all pretty sweet and mild, which is not bad. Out of the 3, I really like the juicy strawberry scent the most. But I think I'm biased here because I love strawberries.

Petite Bunny Gloss Bars

After I check out their scents, it was time to test them! Like I mentioned before, they reminded me of tinted lip balms. They feel kind of like tinted lip balms when you apply them. However, they are not as moisturizing as some tinted lip balms. They also don't play well with dry or chapped lips. If you have either of those, make sure to moisturize and do a lip scrub before using these gloss bars. Otherwise, the gloss bars will accentuate every little detail of the dry areas/ chapped lips. On days when my lips feel dry, I like to apply a normal lip balm first before applying these.

Since my lips are already a little pigmented, some of the gloss bars didn't show up as well as it did when I did the swatches. #1 Juicy Strawberry showed up the least on my lips and #3 and #4 looked very similar on my lips. Even if I apply multiple layers of them, they still look the same. On a plus side though, I like how they aren't super pigmented, because I can wear them on a daily basis with minimal makeup and they'll still look good. For people who are looking for a pigmented lip look, these are probably not it.

Unfortunately, there are many down sides to these Bunny Gloss Bars. I've mentioned above that they will accentuate dry/chapped lips. They are also not super moisturizing on their own, so it's best to apply some sort of lip balm underneath it first. These gloss bars don't have awesome staying powers. I was able to easily remove them with a tissue paper. They are also easily removed when drinking, eating or licking the lips, so reapplying will be needed. While they do smell nice they don't really taste nice. When I licked my lips after applying them, they have that balm like taste that reminds me a little of Vaseline.

These gloss bars are automatic twist ups, which seems very convenient. However, try not to twist up too much because they will be hard to twist down.

Pros:
-adorable packaging
-multiple colors
-multiple fruit scents
-inexpensive
-travel friendly

Cons:
-no staying power
-accentuate dry/chapped lips
-not really moisturizing
-twist up/down mechanism can be hard to use
-colors looking similar to each other

My Rating: ❤ ❤ ❤

Final Thoughts: Petite Bunny Gloss Bars from TonyMoly are super adorable. However, they are just not so practical. Their staying powers are almost non-existent and not everyone will have the time to reapply them like every hour. While they do have multiple colors, some of them end up looking very similar to each other when applied. These gloss bars are also not very moisturizing on the lips. For people who want pigmented lip looks, these gloss bars will not be able to provide that. Would I repurchase these in the future? Probably not. While they are cute and I can wear them on a daily basis, they have no staying powers. If I lick my lips a few times, the colors will be washed off. However, I think I will continue to use these until I finish them, I just don't plan on purchasing the other colors. Would I recommend these? Well, if you like cute stuff, then you might already want these and they aren't expensive either. I think if you aren't looking for something super pigmented and don't mind the gloss bar's lack of staying powers, then feel free to give these a try.
