Koelf Ruby & Bulgarian Rose Hydro Gel Eye Patch Review

Koelf Ruby & Bulgarian Rose Hydro Gel Eye Patch Review

Hey Dreamers and Creators!

Today, I'm going to be talking about eye patches. Mainly these Ruby & Bulgarian Rose Hydro Gel Eye Patches from Koelf. If you recall, I reviewed Petitfee's eye patches in the past. The ones I tried left me with mixed feelings. However, I didn't give up. If anything, it fueled my search to find other eye patches that will leave me and my under-eyes happy. I've since then found a couple of eye patches that I will try and review in the future. For today though, I want to share my thoughts on these Koelf Ruby & Bulgarian Rose eye patches.

Koelf is a sister brand of Petitfee, which explains why their packaging looks so similar. I was interested to see what Koelf meant, as Petitfee's name is taken from petite fée which is French for little fairy. Unfortunately, there's no explaination for the name this time. Instead, as you can see in the picture above, Koelf is the eyepatch for elves. Ah, so this is the beauty secret of the Silvan Elves. Can you imagine Legolas walking around with these eye patches? Hubba hubba!

packaging

Packaging: Looks just like Petitfee's packaging huh? It's almost identical. It even comes with the same sticker that tells you its an authentic Korean product. Anyways, the Koelf Ruby & Bulgarian Rose's main packaging color is pink. The eye patch container comes with a seal as you can see in the picture above. This is to keep the eye patches fresh until opening date, as the eye patches are only good for 2 months after opening. The spatula it comes with is nice and on the bottom of the container you'll find the manufacturing and expiration dates.

The one main difference of this Koelf eye patch packaging and Petitfee's is that Koelf doesn't have English instructions and ingredients. So I had to translate everything. Would have been nice if it came with English instructions and ingredients like its sister eye patches.

Scent: These eye patches has a sweet floral scent to it. Its got hints of rose but doesn't smell like roses right off the bat. It's more like a mixed floral scent that's sweet and has hints of damask rose. The scent is a bit more than mild but certainly not strong or overwhelming.

Color: The eye patches are rose gold in color as you can see in the picture below. It's really pretty actually. The hydrogel eye patches are see through and has little gold sparkles in them.

Texture: It feels like most hydrogel eye patches. It's a bit slippery when you first take it out of the container (so be careful). However, once applied, it adheres to the under-eye area nicely and doesn't slide around. The eye patch is a bit thick when it's first taken out of is package, however, after the 40 minutes it becomes thinner and feels drier.
eye patches looks so pretty

My Thoughts: I thought I would have better luck with these eye patches. However, once again, I have a love-hate relationship with them. Although it's mostly love.

To start, I like the scent of these eye patches. It's more pleasant and not as strong as the Petitfee ones. It is more than mild though, so it might not be suitable to those sensitive to scents. Personally, I like the floral and rose scents these eye patches have. I'd have to say, the shapes of these eye patches are a lot better. I managed to find a way to fit it perfect on my under-eye area. There's really no right or wrong way to use the eye patches. As long as it isn't getting into your eyes, then it should be okay. This means, the large and rounder end could be at the outer corner of your eyes or the inner corner. Personally, I like to place the smaller end on my inner corner. That way the fit is better for me and my under-eyes.

The eye patches are really great at moisturizing my under-eyes. I like to use them in the mornings because they can help to de-puff my eyes. I usually store them in the fridge for an extra cooling kick. Aside from moisturizing and de-puffing effects, these eye patches also does a good job brightening the under-eye areas. I don't have panda like dark circles, but I do have dark circles. Although the eye patches does not make them disappear completely. It does lighten it and also brightens the area a bit as well. These eye patches also help to lighten my fine lines a bit. They aren't magical and won't make the fine lines disappear after one use. However, after using this every other day, it has helped to minimize the fine lines a bit.

eye patches are good for 2 months after opening
The main downside of these eye patches for me is the slight tingly effect at the beginning. Every time I apply the eye patches, there's a tingly sensation. It's not pleasant but it's not horrible either. This feeling usually goes away after a minute. At first I thought it was just my eye area, however, it seems that no matter where I apply the eye patches, it still has the tingly feeling at first. I do have sensitive skin though. Surprisingly, it hasn't caused me any issues, it just feels funny for a bit. I'm not a fan of the initial tingly feeling, however, I still use these eye patches every morning because they do help my under-eye areas. Apart from the initial tingly sensations, the eye patches feels rather soothing when worn.

Another sort of downside but not really downside is its use by date. After the eye patch container has been open, it should be used within 2 months. (See image above). Two months is a fairly short lifespan and can be an issue for some people. It kind of forces the user to try and finish the eye patches within 2 months. Which means they'd use it at least once every other day. On one hand, it means we'd use the eye patches often and it can provide benefits to the under-eye areas regularly. On the other hand, it's not great for busy people who don't have the time to use eye patches so often. I try to get myself to use these eye patches every other morning. If I miss a morning than I'll make it up. It can be a pain on some days when I'm lazy, but I just remind myself of the eye patches' short lifespan.

Final Thoughts: I have to say, I like these Koelf Ruby & Bulgarian Rose Hydro Gel Eye Patches a lot more than the Petitfee ones. They aren't perfect, but they are pretty darn good. Their fit is awesome, they smell nice and they provide my under-eye areas with moisturizing, soothing, cooling, brightening, and de-puffing effects. They do have that initial tingly effect, which isn't pleasant. However, that effect goes away quickly and hasn't cause me any issues. So for now, I'm just letting it be.

Would I purchase this in the future? That's to be determined. There a couple of hydro gel eye patches I want to try out before deciding which one I will repurchase. Do I think this is worth a try? Well, if the short lifespan after opening isn't an issue for you, then it's totally worth a try. These Koelf Ruby and Bulgarian Rose Hydro Gel Eye Patches have many benefits plus its super inexpensive as well.
