Bonvivant Botanical Pure Masks Mega Review

Bonvivant Botanical Pure Masks Mega Review

Hey Dreamers and Creators!

Today's Mask Monday Mega Review features these Botanical Mask Packs from Bonvivant. The two of us were super excited to try these out and we each tested out 3 of the 6 mask types. In this review, we are going to share product information and our thoughts on all 6 types of masks from the Pure Mask line. We've both had generally great experiences with the Bonvivant brand so far and we hope this continues on to their other products.

These Bonvivant Botanical Pure Masks were released early July, which we mentioned in our previous clay masks review. There are 6 masks in the line and they are: Sodium Hyaluronate + Lotus, Collagen + Olive, Adenosine + Acai, Niacinamide + Lime, Madecassoside + Mugwort, and Chamomile + Tea Tree. These masks care for a variety of skincare issues, from troubled skin to hydration to wrinkle care and more. Since the two of us have different skincare issues, we decided to each choose 3 masks out of the 6 to test out and share our thoughts on them. Below are the types of masks we chose as well as our skin types/concerns:

Michelle: Sodium Hyaluronate + Lotus, Madecassoside + Mugwort, and Chamomile + Tea Tree
Skin types/concerns: acne prone, combo to oily, sensitive skin

Helen: Collagen + Olive, Adenosine + Acai, Niacinamide + Lime
Skin types/concerns: normal to dry, aging, damaged/tired skin

Before we get to the reviews of each individual mask, let's talk a bit about the packaging styles, mask materials, and how to use.

Packaging: All 6 masks have the same packaging style. Each mask is represented by a color, an image of their second main ingredient, and their names. Aside from their names and their ingredient lists, everything else on the package is in Korean. Which is a bit disappointing because we thought they would provide more information in English. However, the Memebox website has decent general information on each mask pack so that saved us the translation time.

Mask Materials: These masks boast about their sheets, which are crafted with 100% Eucalyptus derived elements that promises to adhere to the skin gently without causing any irritations. We both thought the mask material is pretty good but not the best we've tried. The masks do stick to the face as promised but their cut wasn't the best for either of us. However, true to its claim, the sheets didn't irritate our skin which is great.

To Use: Cleanse and tone the skin first. Apply the mask onto the face and leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes. Remove after and pat in any remaining essence. Tip: Keep the sheet masks refrigerated before use for a de-puffing/cold press effect. Also, don't waste any essence left in the pouch. Instead use them on the neck, body and hands to provide over all care.

Alright! Now, let's get on to the individual reviews~

 Adenosine + Acai front side

Bonvivant Botanical Pure Mask Pack in Adenosine + Acai
1 mask 20ml, $1

Product Description: The Adenosine + Acai mask is a restorative mask. It's formulated with Acai extract and Adenosine to restore damaged and tired skin. While Adenosine re-energizes the skin, Acai works to deliver rich antioxidants to strengthen and protect the skin from environmental toxins. The sheet masks are also enriched with various oriental fruit extacts like Gingko Nut, Mulberry, Fig, and more to protect and revitalize the skin, while providing anti-aging care.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Xanthan Gum, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Adenosine, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Nut Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Please Do Not use if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients.

Scent: Although fragrance is added to the mask, it is very light. It has a light, fresh, and sweet scent to it.

Color/Texture: The essence is milky in color and its texture slightly thicker than some other masks in the line. The texture is more like a serum and definitely thicker than an essence.

 Adenosine + Acai back side

Helen's Thoughts: I have been using masks that fits my face really well lately, so these were a bit of a let down. As the cut is not the best, so it makes the fit a little awkward. However, aside from the fit, these masks are pretty decent. The mask sheet was soaked in essence and I was able to leave it on for 30+ minutes (although the instructions say otherwise). Even when I took the sheet off, the mask was still fairly wet. Keep in mind that these masks are really inexpensive and their extracts are not super high end, so I'm not going to compare them to high end brands. However, comparing them to masks from around the same price, like Etude House or Tonymoly, I found these to be on par and some are just slightly better.

The Adenosine + Acai masks felt really soothing on my skin. Although the essence is milky and slightly thicker than your typical mask essence, it still absorbed easily into my skin. The essence did not leave behind any sticky feeling either. My skin felt soft and smooth right after and the feeling lasted over night and into the next day as well. The Adenosine + Acai sheet masks are suppose to be anti-aging masks, but I only saw minimal results from it. The masks left my skin feeling plumped but it did not do anything to my wrinkles/fine lines. However, the masks are nourishing and results might be more noticeable after more uses.

Sodium Hyaluronate + Lotus front side

Bonvivant Botanical Pure Mask Pack in Sodium Hyaluronate + Lotus
1 mask 20ml, $1

Product Description: The Sodium Hyaluronate + Lotus masks provides care for dry and tired skin. Sodium Hyaluronate delivers intense hydration to the skin while the Lotus extract works to moisturize and relieve tired skin. They also protect the skin from environmental pollutants. Thus, creating re-energized, healthy, and dewy skin.

Ingredients: Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Gum, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Allantoin, Panthenol, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Madecassoside, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Please Do Not use if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients.

Scent: A light and fresh lotus scent.

Color/Texture: Essence is clear and watery, like your typical sheet mask essence.

Sodium Hyaluronate + Lotus back side

Michelle's Thoughts: Having sensitive skin means patch test, patch test, and more patch tests. I took a long time testing these masks out because I had a freak out moment where I thought it caused an reaction or something. However, I just had allergic reaction to something I came across early that day and it was completely unrelated to these masks. So yeah. I was extremely careful with these masks but they turned out to be okay.

These Sodium Hyaluronate + Lotus masks are great for providing moisture to the skin. These masks are definitely moisturizing and while I thought they might be too much for my combo to oily skin, they actually turned out okay. In fact, they helped the drier parts of my skin a lot and I was really happy with the results. Aside from providing moisture to the skin, these masks also felt soothing as well. They left my skin feeling soft and smooth and left it with a healthy glow as well. I think I would like these a lot in the winter times, when the weather is a colder and extra moisture is needed.

Niacinamide + Lime front side

Bonvivant Botanical Pure Mask Pack in Niacinamide + Lime
1 mask 20ml, $1

Product Description: These Niacinamide + Lime sheet masks works to restore dull and problematic skin. The Lime extract provides a rich dose of Vitamin C, which works to revitalize and purify the skin. Meanwhile, Niacinamide provides brightening care to the skin. The sheet masks are also formulated with various of fruit extracts to moisturize, revitalize, and protect the skin.

Ingredients: Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum , Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Allantoin, Panthenol, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Please Do Not use if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients.

Scent: Like the other masks, this has a fresh and light scent. There's a super light lime scent that can be picked up from the mask pouch. However, when the mask is on the face, there isn't much of a scent at all.

Color/Texture: Essence is watery in texture.

Niacinamide + Lime back side

Helen's Thoughts: I thought I would be greeted with strong lime scents, like those house cleaners. However, I was happy to find the scent of these Niacinamide + Lime masks to be light and refreshing with just a hint of lime. These masks promises to brighten, moisturize, and revitalize the skin. How did they fare? Well, comparatively, these masks have decent moisturizing abilities. Not the best and I do wish it offered just a tad more moisturizing effects. I can use them now in the summer time but I feel like they would not be enough come winter. These Niacinamide + Lime masks felt soothing and refreshing on the skin. I put my second mask in the fridge before using. The cooling effects added to the mask's natural soothing and refreshing feel made it a real treat for a hot summer day. As for their brightening effects, these masks are pretty great. I noticed my skin looked brighter after each use, which is probably due to a mix of the Lime's Vitamin C content and Niacinamide's brighteing abilities. For their price, their brightening effects are great. Although, if you are willing shell out more money, there are better brightening masks on the market.

Collagen + Olive front side

Bonvivant Botanical Pure Mask Pack in Collagen + Olive
1 mask 20ml, $1

Product Description: These Collagen + Olive masks provides restorative care for aging, dehydrated, and tired skin. Olive extract contains Vitamin E which helps to prevent moisture loss and protect the skin from environmental damages. Olive extract can also provide anti-aging care and moisturize the skin as well. On the other hand, Collagen works to nourish the skin, boost its elasticity, and strengthen the skin as well. Providing a moisturized and youthful look.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Xanthan Gum, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Nut Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Please Do Not use if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients.

Scent: This mask has a light and sweet scent. It didn't smell like olives at all, unlike other olive products we've tried in the past.

Color/Texture: The mask essence is similar to the Adenosine + Acai masks. It's thicker than your typical mask essence and has a milky color.

Collagen + Olive back side

Helen's Thoughts: I was secretively hoping for an olive scent like my lotion, however, it just had a light and sweet scent instead. Which is not bad and likely great for those who do not like strong scents in their skincare products.

The Collagen + Olive masks felt great on my normal to dry skin and I imagine I would like to use these during the winter time as well. The mask provides a boost of moisture and left my skin feeling hydrated and refreshed. My skin soaked up the essence nicely and it did not leave any residues either. I even patted on some essence left in the pouch on my skin and it drank that up too. I usually use the essence all over my body. However, since my skin liked it so much, I saved it for the next morning and my skin loved it. Collagen masks are generally good for anti-aging care and I did notice my skin looked/felt plumper after each use. These masks were also very soothing when used and left my skin feeling refreshed.
Madecassoside + Mugwort front side

Bonvivant Botanical Pure Mask Pack in Madecassoside + Mugwort
1 mask 20ml, $1

Product Description: The Madecassoside + Mugwort sheet masks can help to restore stressed and sensitive skin. Madecassoside extract has soothing properties and can protect the skin as well. It contains anti-inflammatory properties and has some anti-aging and healing capabilities as well. Mugwort can tighten the skin and provide nutrition to the skin as well. Together they can leave the skin more elastic, firmer, and healthier.

Ingredients: Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Artemisia Princeps Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Allantoin, Panthenol, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Madecassoside, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Scent: Some Mugwort masks can have a strong-ish herbal scent to them. However, these masks, like many others in its line has a sweet scent to its instead. The scent is very light as well.

Color/Texture: Like the Sodium Hyaluronate + Lotus masks, the essence is fairly clear and watery.

Madecassoside + Mugwort back side

Michelle's Thoughts: I'm always on the look out for masks that provide acne care since my acne prone skin can be so unpredictable. So, this Madecassoside + Mugwort mask was 1 of the 2 from the Botanical Pure Mask line that I was excited to try. The other, of course, is the Chamomile + Tea Tree masks which I will talk about below.

Anyways, Madecassoside is derived from Centella Asiatica which is a popular ingredient in Asian skincare products used to provide antibacterial and anti-acne care. Mugwort is also known to have some anti-acne properties as well. So, these 2 ingredients makes the perfect combo for acne care. When I tested these masks, I found them to be really moisturizing. Not a suffocating my combo to oily skin kind of moisturizing, but the masks provided moisture in a way that played along with my skin. While some super moisturizing masks can cause issues for my skin, these didn't. Instead, they left my skin feeling really moisturized, plump, and soft. The mask's soothing effects also helped to calm my redness a bit and it healed some small acne pimples a bit as well, making them not as red and angry looking. I am currently really fond of these masks and I know I will purchase more in the future.

Along with other fruit and botanical ingredients, they can provide acne care, minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, exfoliate dead skin cells, soothe and calm the skin leaving it feeling fresh and clean.

Ingredients: Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower/Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Allantoin, Panthenol, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.

Scent: Like the other masks in its line, these Chamomile + Tea Tree masks have a very light scent. It's got hints of Tea Tree mixed with a hint of sweet scent as well.

Color/Texture: The mask essence is watery.

Chamomile + Tea Tree back side

Michelle's Thoughts: Alright the last mask of the line! Congratulations for making it all the way until the end. The Chamomile + Tea Tree masks were the only masks in the line to contain a few fruit extracts like Apple, Lemon, Grape, etc. that the other masks didn't have. It's a bit odd and I'm not sure why that is the case. I can only guess that the extra extracts probably help to boost or provide skincare benefits for the mask.

The Chamomile + Tea Tree masks were 1 of the highlights of the Botanical Pure Mask line for me. I, personally, love Chamomile tea and usually always have some at home. It not only tastes great, but it's also great for the body as well. Tea Tree, on the other hand, is kind of a hit or miss ingredient for me. This usually depends on the product and percentage of Tea Tree extract/oil in it. I've had great experiences with some Tea Tree products and some unpleasant experiences with others. So, while I was excited for these Chamomile + Tea Tree masks, I was also slightly nervous at the same time. So, like always, the first thing I did was to patch test them. The result? They passes! I'm fairly happy with that, now onto their skincare benefits.

These masks promises to minimize the appearance of pores, provide anti-acne care, soothe and calm the skin. For me, these masks did feel a bit soothing and calming on my skin. When I took it off, I noticed that my skin looked less red and the few angry pimples I had looked less angry. Although, they didn't change in size at all. The most disappointing part of the mask was that it didn't do anything for my pores. The promise to minimize the appearance of pores was not fulfilled and it felt like a let down because I was really looking forward to it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Final Thoughts: These 6 masks from Bonvivant's Botanical Pure Mask line left us with generally good but mixed feelings. Some masks performed extremely well and were way beyond our expectations, while others were more of a let down. For their price, these masks are great beginner masks and totally worth a try. Although, if you are willing to spend more money, there are other masks on the market that offer higher quality masks and better skincare benefits.
Still, each of us has a favorite (or 1 we like the most) from this line and we'll likely pick up more of those in our next haul.
