Lancome Juicy Shaker: Berry In Love Review

Lancome Juicy Shaker: Berry In Love Review

Hey Dreamers and Creators!

Have you tried lip oils yet? This is the Lancome Juicy Shaker Lip Oil in the shade Berry In Love. I was really excited to try this lip oil because I've heard so many good things about it. However, I was also a bit unsure about it because the last time I tried some lip oils, it didn't turn out too good. So, I wasn't too sure what to expect with this one.

I've had this product for over 8 months now and this is definitely a delayed review. I kind of procrastinated on this review a lot because it's one of those products that I have a love-hate relationship with and I couldn't decided if it was leaning to the love side or the hate side. I also don't use this lip oil too often (I'll explain it later), so I wanted to keep trying it out a bit more before reviewing it.

Lancome Juicy Shaker

Lancome Juicy Shaker
6.5ml, shade: Berry In Love

Product Description: Lancome Juicy Shakers are unique lip oils that utilizes the bi-phase technology to deliver a wash of color with a hint of shine onto the lips. The lip oil has 2 phases, the first is the transparent oil and the second is the pigment. The oil is formulated with a blend of 5 nourishing ingredients which are peach kernel oil, almond oil, apricot oil, cranberry oil and muscat rose oil to treat the lips like a lip balm. It's comfortable on the lips and leaves a non-sticky shine. The tint is a nice touch of color that's slightly pigmented as well. The 2 phases come together when shaken, as it emulsifies into one. Creating the perfect tinted lip oil for application. The Juicy Shaker also comes with a built-in cushion applicator for easy and on-the-go applications.

To Use: Shake the cocktail shaker a few times to mix the pigment and oil together. Tap the cushion applicator gently onto your lips for a tint of color. *Tip: For a more pigmented look, apply a base using either lip liner or matte lipstick first. Then apply the Juicy Shaker on top to add a wash of color and shine.

Packaging: I'm pretty sure the packaging of this Juicy shaker is what drew me in. It reminded me of VDL's lip tints which are still on my wishlist. The cocktail shaker shape is pretty unique and goes well with the theme.  Inside, you'll find the cushion applicator (see picture below) which is used to apply the lip product. I love that this tinted lip oil comes with a well shaped opening, as it helps to keep excess product in the container so you always take out the right amount.

Scent: The Berry In Love Juicy Shaker has a blackberry flavor. It smells fruity and delicious.

Color: There are a ton of color options for these Juicy Shakers. The shade I picked out is Berry In Love, which is a cool-toned bright blackberry shade. It has a high shine finish as well due to the lip oil.

Texture: The tinted lip oil feels oily on the lips but it's not super oily either. It's almost like lip tint with a slightly oily texture to it. It's super lightweight and has a nice glossy finish.

Michelle's Thoughts: As I mentioned in the intro, I have mixed feelings about this product. It's a love-hate relationship that's slightly leaning more to the love side. I am in love with the Berry In Love shade. It's really beautiful and because it's a lightly pigmented tint oil, it can work well over many colors or just naturally on the lips as well. I like to layer it on top my matte lipsticks or lip liners, as it adds a nice shine and light wash of color over it. I do use it on its own sometimes for my no-makeup makeup look because it provides a wash of color that's still natural looking as well. I also love the berry scent of the lip oil. It's fruity and delicious. Now, let's take a moment and talk about its packaging. It's adorable and honestly it's one of the reasons why I purchased this lip oil. It's a cocktail shaker and that totally works with the theme of having to shake/mix the lip oil & tint like you are creating a perfect lip elixir. I love the design and it just works so well together. The lip oil also contains a variety of nourishing oils that keeps the lips hydrated.

Unfortunately, this lip oil isn't without its issues. The first issue is its built-in applicator. The cushion applicator just doesn't work well when I'm trying to apply the product to the corners of my lips or the cupid's bow area. For me, the point is too big for those areas. I wish Lancome offers different cushion applicator sizes for different lip shapes, that would be nice. The second issues is the lack of lasting power. I find the lip oil wears off within the first 2 hours. The tint stays around a little longer, but it only last for about another 3 hours or so. Reapplications are definitely needed. I don't use this lip oil as often as I thought I would. The lack of lasting power and the odd applicator size are the main reasons. I would like to use the lip oil more often because I love the color but I usually only use it on days when I know I will only be out for a few hours.

Pros:
-hydrating
-glossy finish
-non-sticky
-good color options
-unique packaging
-travel friendly

Cons:
-not long lasting
-cushion applicator size is not the best for all lip shapes

Michelle's Rating: ❤ ❤

Final Thoughts: Like many, I was drawn in by its packaging but stayed for the beautiful color, hydrating formula, and delectable scent. I personally like the amount of pigment in this lip oil. It is light but it works well for my day to day looks and I like layering it over lipsticks/liners as well.

Would I repurchase it in the future? I'm not sure yet. There are a few other lip oils in the market I want to try and compare with this one before making a decision. Do I think this is worth a try? Yes! If you like the light to medium coverage, love the color options and is intrigued by the unique packaging/theme, you'll want to give this a try. Also, if you have never tried a lip oil tint, this hydrating tinted lip oil would be a good one to start with.
