I'm From Honey Mask Review

I'm From Honey Mask Review

Hey Dreamers and Creators!

Helen and Michelle here. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We have been dying to share our review on this skin care mask but it took a little longer than we thought it would. However, it is finally here! The I'm From Honey Mask is so popular right now. In fact, it was sold out early in the year and the company had to go into emergency mode and make some more. You lovelies might already know that Michelle is a huge mask lover. Even with her sensitive skin, she'll put in the time to patch test because she wants to find the best masks. I (Helen) on the other hand is a mask lover too, however, I rarely have the time to use them or I forget (probably more of the latter). But this time was different, we were both super excited to try out this mask. Both of us will be sharing our thoughts on this mask, so if you want to see what we think of this mask, keep on reading!

Honey is amazing and we use it daily. Most of the time we use it in our tea (yes, we are tea lovers), while other times we could be using it in skin care products, diy recipes, food, heck, the list goes on. In short, we love honey. We think of honey as edible liquid gold because of its amazing benefits. Of course, anything in excess is bad for you, so we only use it in moderation.

Honey is known for its antioxidants and moisturizing effects. It also contains various vitamins and minerals that can be easily absorbed. Some beauty legends have used honey in their skin care routine and you can see honey commonly included as an ingredient in skin care products today. Apparently, Cleopatra used to bathe in it. We, of course, are not going to bathe in it (can you imagine how much honey you'll need), however, we do believe its got some amazing worthy properties.

Aside from Cleopatra, honey has long been thought of as an amazing ingredient by many others as well. Such as the people from the Joseon Dynasty, who used honey chips to care for their skin. There are of course, many others who valued using honey in their skin care and viewed it as a unique beauty secret.

The I'm From Honey Mask contains 38.7% real honey. Like real honey, not honey extracts (yup, there's a difference). Honey extracts is honey mixed with water and often times, it's just a tiny bit of honey mixed in a lot of water. Talk about major dilution.

The I'm From Honey Mask's promise of 38.7% real honey is one of the many reasons that drawn us in on this product. That and the amazing reviews, amazing ingredients, oh, and that it sold out so soon (which meant the craze is on for this product).

A little information about the 38.7% honey in the I'm From Honey Mask:

The 38.7% pure, real honey in the I'm From Honey mask is from the Jiri Mountain. Jiri Mountain, otherwise known for its full name Jirisan, is located in the Southern region of South Korea. The mountain itself is known for its herbs and some people view it as one of the three most important mountains in South Korea. There are more than 1000 kinds of herbs and flowers growing on the mountain. The mountain area has the right temperature for these herbs and flowers to grow, which is why there are so many. Comparably, the honey from this mountain is tastier and has more health benefits than ordinary honey.

Scent: The masks smells like a mix of honey and sugar cane. Actually, sugar cane crystal sugar is what we both thought of when we first took a whiff. We even compared it to our organic sugar cane crystal sugar at home and the scent is very similar. When you smell it a bit longer, you can began to pick up the scent of honey. Overall, the mask has a very sweet smell to it.

Texture: The texture of this mask is much like honey. We honestly weren't sure what to expect in terms of texture until we opened it up and took a look. The product itself is not liquidy and there's no leaking. It does, however, feel a little more moistful than honey.

Honey mask texture is like honeyUnlike some wash off masks, this honey mask does not dry. Even after one hour, the mask is still very moist.

honey mask packaging

Packaging: The packaging for the honey mask is very simple. It's contained in a glass jar and black lid. The jar is see through, so you can see exactly what the mask looks like. The masks comes with a white plastic inner top lid (ours is stuck inside the black lid) and a spatula which you can use to stir the mask and scoop the mask out for use. The glass jar is contained in a square box with very simple design. The box is printed with detailed information regarding the mask, seen in the first couple of pictures on this post, however, the descriptions are in Korean. The expiration of the mask is printed on the bottom of the glass jar (not pictured), ours is good until 2018, although I'm pretty sure it will be long gone before then. P.S. do you see the cute honeycomb pattern on the box packaging?

Michelle's Thoughts: "I was home when our mail was delivered so I was the first to open the box up and see what's inside. The first thing I noticed was that the mask looked separated. That might be alarming for some other products, however, for this honey mask it would be expected as it contains 38.7% of pure honey, which means there's bond to be some sort of separation going on. Anyways, nothing a good stir couldn't fix. Once stirred, the mask looks like the image above. The product warns that the color of its mask might vary due to the color of the honey added to the mask. Since the honey will be collected from different times and all.

honey mask first applied to the hand

Since I am the one (out of the two of us) with sensitive skin, I started my patch test right after I got the product. I wasn't so much so worried about the honey but more so of the Bee Venom. I've no idea if I am allergic to Bee Venom or not, so I was a little worried. After two weeks of careful patch test, it seems that the masks does not cause irritation on my skin and did not break me out either. So, so far so good. It might be that the bee venom amount in this mask is so small that it does not affect me, which ever the case, I am just glad I can still use this mask because I love it!

honey mask evens out while on the hand

I did find my preferred time for the mask since the allowed time is 10 minutes to 1 hour, which is a very large difference. Although, the instructions says it can be left for up to 1 hour, through multiple tests and tries, I found that the best times for me are between 30 minutes and 45 minutes. I use this mask once a week or once every other week, depending on my skin. The thickness of this mask depends on your preference. How thick or thin I apply the mask changes each time as well. It all depends on what I am feeling for that day. I will note that if you apply a thick layer of the mask, it will take a slightly longer time to rinse off as opposed to a thin layer.

The mask is recommended for all skin types, which is great, because my mom and I have completely different skin types. While I have combination to oily skin that's sensitive and acne prone, my mom has dry to normal skin (not sensitive or acne prone, lucky her). My mom, however, does worry about wrinkles and skin elasticity. The mask is supposed to help with all of our issues and more such as soothing skin, brightening the skin, and much more.

You can see me with the mask on below. Left picture is before the mask and right side is with the mask on. I only applied a thin layer this time and left it on for 30 minutes.

I do find the mask soothing on my skin and it looks a little brightened after I wash the mask off. My face also feels very moisturized and supple after using the mask as well. I have some redness on my cheeks and nose area, while I was hoping it would reduce some of the redness, it didn't really make too much of a difference. Sometimes the mask would help with the redness while other times it does not. I've still yet to figure out why. The honey mask brought down my skin temperature, and it felt cool afterwards. Below is the after mask picture."

Helen's Thoughts: "Below, you see pictures of my left and right cheek. As someone with different skin care issues, I was really curious to see if my daughter and I could really be able to use this honey mask to target our different skin care issue. My focuses in terms of skin care are mainly on anti-aging and moisturizing. I do have some redness on my cheeks, but they aren't so bad and look more like blush. Since I don't really patch test products (I don't have sensitive skin and never really have any issues with anything), I just use the mask without testing it.

The first thing I noticed about the mask is its scent. While I can pick up honey and sugar cane scents, I also picked up brown sugar scent. It smells very sweet and delectable that I almost want to eat it. I love the texture of the mask as well, it feels moisturizing and does not move around, so I can clean the house with the mask on if I really want to (although I wouldn't, because that's not relaxing).

The instructions says to leave the mask on anywhere between 10 minutes to 1 hour. I find that my favorite length of time to leave the mask on is anywhere between 15 minutes to 20 minutes. I might try leaving the mask on for an hour in the future when I have more time. As for the thickness of the mask, I find that I like a thin layer. The thicker the layer the longer it takes to wash it off, so I like a thin layer for easy cleaning.

I use this mask twice a week. Sometimes once a week if I don't have time to use it twice a week. While I don't usually stick to my schedule when it comes to mask, I've managed to stick to this one because I love how it feels on my face.

While the mask was on my face, it felt very nice. It was moisturizing and soothing, which I liked a lot. You do have to be careful while moving around and making sure you get your hair out of the way. Unless, you are going to jump into the shower afterwards.

Once I removed the mask, I did noticed that my skin looked a little brighter. (Sorry for the pictures below, our natural lightening was being temperamental.) Anyways, my skin felt moisturizing and while I didn't notice any major anti-aging effects the first time I used the mask, after a month's time, it did seem a little effective. What I like most about this mask is the moisture effects. I find that the few days after I use this mask, my makeup is a lot easier to apply and my skin feels smooth. My face also feel supple and plump after I use the mask. This is currently my favorite wash off mask."

I'm From Honey Mask

Our Rating: ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

Final Thoughts: We both love this mask a lot and will definitely repurchase in the future. Even though we have different skin issues, this masks was able to help both of us and our skin. We love how moisturizing this mask feels and it smells good too. What we both like a lot of this mask aside from its moisturizing effects is the smoothness and plumpness it leaves on our skin. It's also very soothing, which makes it a good and relaxing mask after a long day. We do wish that the instructions and tips were in English. Would have loved to know what the box actually says, that was the only down side. However, that's not enough for it to loose a heart because it is truly a great mask!
