My Beauty Diary Pearl Powder Mask Review

My Beauty Diary Pearl Powder Mask Review
Hey Dreamers and Creators!

Another Mask Monday, another My Beauty Diary mask review. This week is all about the My Beauty Diary (MBD) Pearl Powder Masks. The evolution of My Beauty Diary Masks is amazing and almost every year something changes. Late 2015 we saw the introduction of the new, upgraded MBD masks with new sheet mask materials that is thinner than it predecessor. This review features MBD Pearl Powder masks with the older mask material.

The Pearl Power masks have a new version called the Royal Pearl masks. The change in name was made for its newly upgraded version of the mask, which has a different sheet mask material than its predecessor.

Michelle's Thought: Think of the Pearl Powder masks as cousins to the Black Pearl masks. The ingredients are similar except for a few extracts, and the dosages for some ingredients are slightly different than each other. Skincare properties wise, they both promote whitening (aka brightening). However, whereas Black Pearl masks promote nourishing effects, Pearl Powder masks promote toning of the skin.

I think I like Black Pearl masks better than Pearl Powder masks. The main reason is because Black Pearl masks fulfill all of its skincare promises for me whereas Pearl Powder masks do not. The one main skincare property that Pearl Powder mask doesn't have is toning of the skin. Which is funny because it's promoted on the front of their mask box. For me, the Pearl Powder masks doesn't brighten a well as the Black Pearl masks. Which isn't so good because as I mentioned in the Black Pearl masks review, there are other masks that brightens better. The Pearl Powder mask has decent moisturizing effects and feels soothing as well.

Pearl Powder masks have fragrances added and it smells like a mix of baby powder and floral notes. This scent might not be suitable for everyone. Personally, I'm okay with the scent. It's not the most pleasant but once the mask sits on the face, the scent is not as noticeable as it was in the mask pouch. As mentioned in previous MBD reviews, the cut of the masks isn't perfect. It doesn't suit me well and it might not suit others as well. However, the good thing is that the MBD mask sheets are easily tear-able, so adjustments can always be made easily.

Pros:
-moisturizes
-brightens
-soothes

-inexpensive

Cons:
-lack of toning effects
-scent might not be suitable for everyone
-one size mask, might not fit everyone perfectly

Final Thoughts: Overall, these My Beauty Diary Pearl Powder masks are just okay masks. There's nothing to wow over and their skincare properties are just decent at best. These masks are inexpensive and they always come with lots of essences. However, that doesn't make these masks more worth well.

Would I repurchase these in the future? I do want to try the new MBD sheet mask material and the Royal Pearl version if the ingredients are different. However, if they are the same, I probably won't get them. Do I think these are worth a shot? I want to say no, but I've also heard of other people who really like these MBD Pearl Powder masks and had great results with them. I'd say to get 1 or 2 individual masks to try first before getting the entire box, just in case it doesn't work out for you like it didn't for me.
