Tonymoly Panda's Dream Brightening Eye Base Review

Tonymoly Panda's Dream Brightening Eye Base

Hey Dreamers and Creators!

Are you plagued by dark circles like me? There used to be a time when I didn't have to worry about dark circles, but now I have skincare products and makeup products to brighten and cover them. From eye creams to eye patches, and more; I've tried a lot of products to help reduce dark circles. While some worked, others have left me disappointed which is why my search continues.

Tonymoly is known for their adorably packaged products and the Panda's Dream line have been around for a while now. Obviously, as someone who likes cute stuff, I was bound to get some of them. While I would like all of the products from the Panda's Dream line, so far I've only purchased this Brightening Eye Base and the So Cool Eye Stick to try. I was hoping that this Brightening Eye Base would help to brighten my under eye areas enough that I don't need to use a concealer or that it would brighten and work as a base for my concealer. Read on to see if it fulfills my wishes!

Packaging: If I have to describe the packaging style of this Panda's Dream Brightening Eye Base in 2 words, it would be adorable and travel-friendly (I guess that's kind of 3 words). The panda design is adorable and kind of fit the theme of this product well. Since, you know panda eyes and dark circles. Despite its small packaging, TM actually managed to fit quite a lot of information on the clear/white plastic package. It contains information and full ingredient lists in both English and Korean. That's quite an enormous feat in itself and I applaud it for making my life easy. (Since most K-Beauty product have only Korean information on their packaging even though they are trying to expand into the Western markets.)

Scent: This eye base has a sweet floral scent. This product does contain added fragrance.

Color: The base is pearl-white in color with a luminous finish.

Texture: The product might look thick but it actually applies smoothly. It's light but feels a bit balmy and silky.

The eye base

Michelle's Thoughts: Ahh, so adorable! I'm in love with the packaging and it looks so cute on my vanity. You know when I first purchase this I thought 'ah it's okay if it doesn't work because it'll still look cute'. Yeah, I didn't have too much of an expectation for this product, although I had wishes and hopes. When I tested this product out I was left with unexpected feelings.

The eye base looks really white when you first apply it onto the under eye area. While I can blend it a bit and my skin tone is light enough that the base can just sort of fit in with the color. I imagine this might be an issue for other skin tones and it might create a white cast. The texture of this eye base is light but a bit balmy and silky, which is also an upside and a downside of this product. The upside is that it works as a great base for my concealer and helps it to apply smoothly. The downside is that sometimes after a few hours, the base starts to creep into the fine lines and make them more noticeable. So, if I apply concealer on top of it, the concealer will also make them more noticeable as well.

Now, the real question is, did it brighten the under eye area to hid the dark circles. The answer is yes and no. This adorable Panda Brightening Eye Base does help to brighten the under eye areas to an extend, but if you have really bad dark circles this probably wouldn't help that much. Personally, I don't have super bad dark circles. However, if I don't apply anything there, they are noticeable. I can usually hid them with my cushion and a peachy cushion base underneath it. So, when I tried out the Brightening Eye Base I noticed that it does help a bit. It kind of took over the step of the peachy cushion but I still needed to apply my BB cushion on top to cover it fully.

Here's the fun part, on Memebox's website they suggested to use this product as a highlighter on the face as well. I was curious, so I tried it out and the results? It works! Seriously, the pearl-white base with luminous finish works beautifully as a highlighter. I think it works better as a highlighter than an under eye brightening product (lol). I, for one, has been using it as a highlighter more than as an under eye base. This eye base can also work for some as an eye primer as well. But beware, it only helps with the pigmentation of the eyeshadows. So if eyeshadows tend to crease or smudge on your eyes, this won't help with that.

Swatch: Left blended, right not blended.

Pros:
-brighten
-cute packaging
-travel friendly
-multi-functional (can be used as highlighter or eye primer as well)

Cons:
-can make fine lines more noticeable (after a few hours of wear)
-can cause a white cast for some skin tones

Michelle's Rating: ❤ ❤

Final Thoughts: This adorable Tonymoly Panda's Dream Brightening Eye Base didn't fulfill all of my wishes but it did fulfill some. It also surprised me in a couple of areas too. I bought this with the intention to help brighten my under eye areas but now it's mainly a highlighter for my face. It's not bad, just unexpected. This product can work as a brightening eye base, but the results won't be the same for everyone. However, personally, I still like it.

Would I repurchase in the future? Some products you only ever need 1 of and I think this is 1 such product. As much as it's cute and multi-functional, I do want to try other products on the market and hopefully fine 1 that works better than this one. Do I think this is worth a try? Well, maybe. As I mentioned before, this eye base won't work for everyone and for some it can even cause a white cast. So, it's ideal to test it out first before purchasing. However, if you are looking for a multi-functional product that works as a highlighter, under eye base, and eye primer, then this is worth a try!
