Today's post is full of deluxe sized beauty goodies. This is actually kind of a belated haul post because we ordered these goodies from Sephora over summer. Do not worry, we did not forget about them. We have actually been reorganizing our samples/deluxe samples stashes and revamping our Sample Saturday blog series to bring you guys an updated version of the series (more information to come).

Anyways, we have been on a low buy for the majority of this year. For the most part, we have actually been able to keep our low buy promises which is a feat for two beauty lovers who are also curious bloggers. We have seen a lot of new beauty goodies and our wishlist is probably as long as a trip to the Moon but we have managed to control our desires (at least for now). This Sephora haul was like a treat to ourselves. It did not break our low-buy since the haul is for the two of us. (Is that cheating?) We purchased two beauty sets containing a variety of goodies that we have been dying to try. Let's get to know them!


Alright, first up is the Sephora Favorites Sun Safety Kit. This set has already been sold out. Actually, in the years before, the Sun Safety Kits always sell out super fast so this year we made sure we got our hands on one.

This set features a variety of sun care products, from sunscreen to BB creams, lip care and more. While not every product has us jumping for joy, we do like the majority that came with this set. There are enough of each product for us to test it out fully before deciding whether we want to purchase the full size or not. These goodies also come in a huge travel bag that is beach-friendly as well.


Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield

This is a 3 in 1 product that works as an anti-aging treatment, a blurring primer, and a sun care product offering SPF 30 PA+++. Its multifunctonal formula promises to provide invisible SPF care, diminish the looks of fine lines while it smooths and blurs imperfections on the skin. The product is lightweight and has a velvety texture and matte finish.

Algenist Sublime Defense Anti-Aging Blurring Moisturizer

Another 3 in 1 product that provides anti-aging care, sun care (SPF 30), and has a blurring primer effect. We might do a showdown between this Algenist moisturizer and the Murad Invisiblur to see how they fair against each other. The Algenist moisturizer is a whipped moisturizer that promises to protect the skin from UV damages and air pollution while it hydrates, provides anti-aging care and blurs imperfections.

Coola Makeup Setting Spray

This is a lightweight and matte finish setting spray. It is formulated with ingredients like cucumber, HA, and aloe vera to keep the skin soothed, refreshed and hydrated. The setting spray has sun protection of SPF 30 and can help to protect the skin from harmful UV rays.

Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist

There are lot of multitasking products in the set! This is a 3 in 1 setting mist that can set makeup, control sebum, and refresh your skin's defense against photoaging UV rays. The setting mist has SPF 50 and it is packaged in an easy to use spray bottle which makes reapplication easy. It can be used over makeup without disturbing it.

St. Tropez In Shower Gradual Tan

This is the one product in the kit that does not provide any sun protection. We are slightly disappointed to see this in here because this is a Sun Safety kit and well in shower tanning products should have no business in here. Oh well. As its name suggests, this is an in shower tanning lotion that can create a natural looking, buildable glow.

Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment

Like mother, like daughter; we were both excited about this product. We actually got a full size of this lip treatment because unlike most other products that can be decanted, it is kind of hard to decant this (lol). The tinted lip treatment has a sheer rosy tint. It is gorgeous and great for those no makeup/no makeup makeup days. This lip treatment is really moisturizing and promises to repair and protect the lips. It also offers SPF 15 protection.

Dr. Jart Premium Beauty Balm

Another multitasking product, this beauty balm is a moisturizer, sunscreen and serum all in one. It has sun protection of SPF 45 to protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. The beauty balm is used to even out skintone and texture. The lightweight formula is perfect under makeup or you can wear it on its own as well.

Boscia BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 27 PA++

This might be the first sun protection product we have seen that has SPF 27. Usually it is in increments of 5 when it comes to SPF on products and while we are sure this is totally fine as well, it begs the question. Why 27? Anyways, the Boscia blemish balm is an oil free BB cream that promises to moisturize and nourish the skin while creating a flawless finish. It has a natural coverage and can help to diminish the appearance of pores and fine lines as well.


MDSolarSciences Mineral Creme Sunscreen

This is a lightweight Broad Spectrum SPF 50 UVA-UVB protection mineral sunscreen. It also has a 80-minute water resistant formula as well. This sunscreen contains extracts like green tea, cranberry, pomegranate which provides antioxidant benefits.

Kate Somerville Daily Deflector Moisturizer

A moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ that protects and hydrates at the same time. It can restore optimal moisture levels, provide sun protection, and offer anti-aging effects. The sunscreen contains natural extracts that can offer a tightening effect and it has light-diffusing properties to help create a healthy looking complexion.

Clarins UV Plus Anti-Pollution Sunscreen (non-tinted)

Clarins has 2 versions of this sunscreen. The one provided in the Sun Safety Set is the non-tinted version, there is also a tinted version with 3 color choices as well. This sunscreen has SPF 50 protection. It is an oil-free and lightweight formula.

Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream

This sunscreen is no surprise to us, as we have actually used it before. While the version in the kit is for face only, Shiseido also has one for face/ body that looks almost the same as well. This is a Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ Water Resistant sunscreen. It is great for outdoor activities and sports.

Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion

A non-chemcial sunscreen that can brighten, moisturize, protect, and re-invigorate skin for a youthful appearance. This antioxidant infused sunscreen is lightweight and non-sticky. It is formulated with extracts like maracuja, apple, honeysuckle, soybean to nourish, tone, retain moisture, and provide anti-aging care.

Dr. Dennis Gross Dark Spot Sun Defence

This Broad Spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen is a hydrating sunscreen that can help to reduce the appearance of dark spots, uneven skin tone and aging around the face. The sunscreen is formulated with 3 forms of vitamin C and vitamin E to help provide the first line of defense against sun damage. It contains nourishing ingredients such as ceramides, evening primerose oil, hyaluronic acid, and more to hydrate the skin and improve skin elasticity.

Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion

The last item in the Sun Safety Kit is this SPF 30 lotion from Peter Thomas Roth. This sun lotion has a light formula and it is a 2-in-1 product that provides sun care and hydration. It is rich in antioxidants and can help to provide a healthy looking complexion as well.



Alright! On to the Soko to Tokyo Kit. We hesitated before getting this set because our choices kept going out of stock. Since this was a build-your-own-pouch kind of deal (where you get to choose 5 products out of the choices they provide), we were aiming to pick products that we really wanted or at least would not mind trying.

It was difficult to choose just 5 because there were quite a few products we wanted to try, however, we are happy with the goodies we picked out. Every item in this set is a deluxe sample of good size, with the exception of the SK-II item we picked which is much smaller than expected. The full size SK-II product itself is well over $150, so that might have something to do with the small size as well.


Skin Inc. Pure Deepsea Hydrating Mask

Do not let its simple packaging fool you, this is a unique hydrating mask that can be used in 30 minutes or overnight. It has a transparent gel look that works to brighten, clarify, and hydrate the skin. The mask is formulated with nutrient rich ingredients such as Okinawa deep sea water, hyaluronic acid, soy bean extract, and more. This hydrating mask is easy to use and great for traveling as well.

AmorePacific Moisture Bound Skin Energy Hydration Delivery System

Despite its rather technical name, this is a hydrating and nutrient rich facial mist. The mist is formulated with botanical ingredients such as lotus, green tea, bamboo sap and more. It can revitalize dry & dehydrated skin while improving the skin's ability to absorb products more effectively and prevent dehydration.
Too Cool For School Egg Mouse Pack

This is a whipped foam facial wash-off mask. (Sounds fancy huh?) The mask is formulated with egg whites and egg yolk extract to help create a smooth and radiant complexion in 5 to 10 minutes. The Mouse Pack is meringue-like in texture and it is easy to use. The egg whites works to purify and brighten the skin while the egg yolks works to hydrate and smooth the skin.

Erborian Ginseng Milk

Like its name suggest, this is a milky lotion formulated with Ginseng. Ginseng is know to improve the appearance of skin texture and provide nourishing skincare benefits. It can help to provide smoothing and tightening effects, making the skin feel softer and smoother over time.

SK-II R.N.A. (Radical New Age) Power Cream

SK-II is a well known brand known for their use of Pitera in skincare products. This Radical New Age Power Cream contains Pitera as well, which is known to help reduce the signs of aging. This is a smoothing cream that can help to firm and hydrate the skin, as well as creating a glowy look.


Last but not least, the samples. If you have shopped from Sephora online, you know they always let you choose 3 samples per order. Of course, there are also specials all the time that adds extra samples as well. Here are the samples we picked when we made our order.

REN Keep Young and Beautiful Beauty Shot

This was the weekly special that offered a 7 day trial of the Beauty Shot. REN is a newish brand for both of us, so we decided to gave it a try. The Beauty Shot is a gel-serum that is supposed to firm, plump, lift, and prime the skin. It is formulated with hydrating ingredients to help the skin retain moisture and reduce trans-epidermal moisture loss.

Dior Addict Lip Maximizer and Lip Glow

This duo sample includes Dior's Addict Lip Maximizer High Volume Lip Plumper and their Lip Glow. Both came in the color 001 Pink. It is neat that it also came with a mini lip brush. The lip plumper is formulated with a rich blend of collagen and marine based fillers to leave the lips smooth and voluptuous. It promises to make the lips look fuller and more defined after 15 days of use. The lip plumper also promises to provide just a tingly and cooling effect instead of the stinging often associated with some lip plumpers. It has a light vanilla/mint scent and it is a sheer tint that can be used alone or as a base/topcoat. The Lip Glow is a sheer and tinted lip balm. It can enhance the natural lip color while moisturizing it and protecting it. This lip balm also provides sun protection of SPF 10.

Marc Jacobs Mod Noir Eau de Parfum

The Mod Noir is a floral fragrance with notes of gardenia, greens, and creamy musks. The full size bottle is iconic and looks classic with a modern twist.

Chloe Roses De Chloe Eau de Toilette

We both love roses and rose scented fragrances (not all but many), so we were interested in trying this out. The Chloe Roses has notes of fresh roses, rose essence, bergamot, white musk, magnolia accord and amber. The scent is fresh, luminous and subtle.


That is it for our Sephora haul. With Black Friday and the holidays coming real soon, we will probably be making some more hauls (from Sephora or other shops). This might be the time to break our low-buy or go close to it but we will not know until the time comes.
