Sample Saturday: Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Review and Swatches

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Kits

Hey Dreamers and Creators!

Happy Saturday! It's the first Sample Saturday of the year since our revamp and I'm here with my review on these Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream kits. I, by the way it's Michelle, know this is a long overdue review because I got these a long time ago when I made my mini Etude House purchase from their global website. However, better late than never right?

The kits each contains 3 deluxe samples of their BB creams. Gifts with purchase and samples are always great because it gives you a way to try the product first before spending money for the full size product. That's how I got to try these BB creams from Etude House. Now, the real question is, would I buy these full size? Read on to find out.

kit packaging

I think Etude House made this deluxe set because these 3 BB creams are their most popular BB creams at the time. Even with their wide selections of cushions, these were/are still popular and widely used. Since choosing the right shade and finding the right formula can always be an issue for new buyers, the deluxe set was a great way to test the shades and formulas before buying full size products. I'm going to introduce each BB cream down below and share my thoughts on them. However, before that I will be sharing the BB cream's scent, ingredients, packaging designs, and shades. Since the packaging designs are really similar and I don't want to repeat it for each individual review. As for the ingredients, they are really long, so I thought I'd put them together.

Scent: All 3 BB creams have fragrances added to them. Blooming Fit and Perfect Fit smells similar to each other. They both have this light floral scent to them. They aren't completely the same, but fairly similar. Cotton Fit has a bit of a powdery scent to it, kind of like baby powder but it also has hints of floral notes as well.

Packaging: The BB cream kit comes with a small box that stores the 3 deluxe samples. The small boxes contains information about the BB creams in mainly Korean. All 3 BB cream colors are N02. The BB cream deluxe samples are stored in small squeeze tubes with twist-off lids. (The full size BB creams have pumps instead.)

Color: All 3 BB creams in these kits come in the same shade, which is N02. Although, you'll notice in the swatches below that the shades are rather different. Aside from N02, each BB cream also has shade W13 and shade W24.

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Blooming Fit

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Blooming Fit

Product Description: Etude House's  Precious Mineral BB Cream Blooming Fit is a signature BB that provides a shiny and glossy look with mineral pearl ingredients. Its 3 in 1 formula has brightening care, wrinkles care, and UV protection of SPF30/ PA++. The BB cream's Slim Layer Fit Formula helps to prevent smudging after layering and keeps the makeup looking smooth. It also contains moisturizing ingredients, such as bamboo sap to hydrate and care for the skin.

Michelle's Thoughts: This was the first BB cream I tried out of the 3 in the kit. Despite all 3 BB creams in the set being N02 shade, this is actually the lightest BB cream out of the 3. Blooming Fit's N02 is light on my skin. I can't really use it on its own, but I am using it as a highlighter-ish product. The coverage for this BB is sheer but buildable to light. Don't expect it to cover any big red pimples, you'll need a concealer for that. The BB cream is easy to apply and blends seamlessly. Once blended and set, the BB cream sits really nicely on the skin. With a good primer and the right setting powder/spray it can last up to 7 hours (sometimes longer) which isn't bad. The BB cream's floral scent smells really nice, although if you are sensitive to scents, you might want to be careful with this one.

This BB cream does have 2 other shades which are W13 Neutral Beige, and W24 Warm Beige. From my experience with Etude House's cushions that I've tried, I've found that my shade would probably be somewhere in-between W13 and W24. So when I mixed the 2 I can get a closer shade than if I use either alone. However, during the winter times my shade leans closer to W13 and during summer my shade leans closer to W24. Etude House's W13 shade is their version of Korea's N21 shade and their W24 shade is their version of N23. As reference, I'm about a MAC N20 in shade (it's been 2 years since I last got that checked but it should still be about right).

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit

Product Description: Etude House's Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit is a BB cream that moisturizes, smooths, protects, and hide skin discoloration with good coverage. The BB cream also has SPF 30/PA++ protection, it can help to brighten the skin and provide anti-aging care as well.

Michelle's Thoughts: Cotton Fit has the darkest shade out of the 3 BB creams in this kit. The shade actually looks like it's one whole shade darker compared to the other 2 BB creams as you'll see in the swatches below. This shade actually reminds me of Etude House's W13 shade. I wonder if this entire line is a bit darker or just this one color. I can sort of wear this shade on its own on my face during the winter times and with a bit of bronzer, it actually doesn't look bad. It is lighter than my skin tone but I can manage to make it work without looking pasty or ghost like. Coverage wise, it's okay. It's light but buildable to light-medium. It can help to cover some redness and small pimples but if you've got a big one, you'll want to use concealer. This is a BB cream you'll need to use a primer under. If you don't, you'll find that it settles into fine lines easily.

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Perfect Fit

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Perfect Fit

Product Description: Etude House's Precious Mineral BB Cream Perfect Fit works to brighten and smooth your complexion giving it a flawless finish. The BB cream uses its double layer cover formula to help cover imperfections and hide uneven skin tones.

Michelle's Thoughts: Perfect Fit has the best coverage out of the 3 BB creams in the kit but even the best isn't perfect. Its coverage is light-medium to medium. It's a bit buildable but try not to layer too much as it can get cakey. Like the Cotton Fit BB cream, you'll want to use a primer under this one to prevent the product from settling into fine lines. Shade wise, this BB cream is just a tad darker than Blooming Fit's N02. It's still not the right shade for my skin tone but we've already established that. I've just been using this as a highlight as well. I had a hard time finding this BB cream online and I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not.

swatches #1

I was surprised to find the major shade differences between Cotton Fit and the other 2 BB creams. Although they are all N02, their colors say otherwise. Both Perfect Fit and Blooming Fit have light beige colors but Cotton fit looks closer to natural beige. It might be hard to tell but Blooming Fit is the lightest out of the 3, Perfect Fit is a bit darker than Blooming Fit but not as much as Cotton Fit and Cotton Fit is the darkest shade out of the 3.

swatches #2

Pros:
-brightens
-moisturizes
-sheer to medium coverage (depending on the BB cream)

Cons:
-scent might not be suitable for everyone
-shades varies even when they are the same shade label

Final Thoughts: I don't know if I would purchase any of these BB creams in the future but I know I definitely won't get them in shade N02. It's just too light for my skin and even though Cotton Fit was close, it's still light and it doesn't even look like N02 but more like W13. I'm glad I got to test these out because they gave me a good idea regarding coverage, scent, formula, etc.

Hopefully, this mini review and swatches helped you guys in determining whether you want to try these BB creams or not! Have you tried these already? Let me know in the comments below what you think of them.
