Pure Smile Choosy Pink Pearl Lip Mask Review

Pure Smile Choosy Pink Pearl Lip Mask Review

Hey Dreamers and Creators, it's Michelle!

Have you heard of Lip Masks? I first hear about them last year when I was searching for new skin care masks to try. At first, I thought nothing much of these and although I noted them on my to try list, they were no where near the top. However, as winter approached, my lips became more chapped and dried, so I decided to give these lip masks a try. Boy oh boy, am I glad I did.

This particular lip mask that I am reviewing today is the Pure Smile Choosy Pink Pearl Lip Mask. Choosy lip masks are quite popular in recent months. It's got a large variety of choices and it's inexpensive, so you can try all of them to find your favorites without feeling guilty. There are 2 lines for the Choosy lip masks, the Pearl line and the Original line. The Pearl line includes Pink Pearl (today's review product), White Pearl, Gold Pearl, Purple Pearl, and Black Pearl. The original line includes Peach, Fruit, Herb, Honey, and Milk. I will review all of them (yes, really all of them). So please look out for those reviews. I've only tried the Pink Pearl and Purple Pearl so far, so I don't know if all of them are similar or have subtle/major difference, but I will let you all know once I review them!

Choosy Pink Pearl Lip Mask

Pure Smile Choosy Pink Pearl Lip Mask
1 piece, $2 - $3, Pink Pearl

Product Description: An innovative hydro gel lip mask that works to reduce fine lines around the lips  and moisturizes the lips as well. The Pink Pearl mask is formulated with 9 amazing ingredients to soften the lips and moisturize it. These 9 ingredients are royal jelly extract, hydrolyzed collagen, sodium hyaluronate, Bambusa Textillis Stem extract, citrus grandis (grapefruit) seed extract, argania spinosa kernel oil, adansonia digitata seed oil, quartz powder, and honey extract. Together they deliver deep moisture into the lips and can even plump the lips a little.

To Use: After washing your hands and lips, take the mask out of the package and apply it onto your lips. (It is more effective to use this mask after a bath.) Leave the mask on for 5 to 30 minutes. Remove and massage the remaining essence into the skin lightly.

Update: highlighted the ingredients unique to the Pink Pearl lip masks in the Choosy mask line so you can see the difference between their 10 types of masks. You'll find all my Choosy lip mask review with highlighted ingredients that's unique to their masks. Here's the review for the Purple Pearl Choosy Lip Masks.

lip mask inside the package

This is not how I usually open the mask, but I opened it this way so you can see how it looks on the inside. The mask is sandwiched between a clear plastic film that's rectangular shaped. There's also a white plastic film inside, with the same shape as the mask. I always put the side of the lip mask facing the white plastic film on my lips, although I am not sure if it matters which side you put.

Choosy Pink Pearl lip mask has a pearl sheen

My Thoughts: When I first opened my lip mask (for the first time ever) I thought it was so awesome. It's a mask for your lips and it is very, very big. So it can cover the area around your lips to make them fine lines disappear. The package is thin and neat, so I can take a mask with me easily everywhere. When you first open the mask, there can be a bit of excess essence dripping, however it's not much at all as most of the essence is on/in the lip mask itself.

The Pink Pearl mask has a light pink color to it with a pearl sheen. It smells sweet like candy but also has a floral fragrance smell to it as well. I really like the scent actually, it's sweet and light, not overwhelming at all. The texture of the mask is similar to a lot of hydro gel masks. The mask feels cool when applied and it starts to soften up the lips.

If you frequent my blog, you know that I patch test everything. #sensitiveskinissues. Anyways, so I had also patch tested this lip mask as well. I opened it and tested the essence on my wrist first then on my lips. When I didn't see any reaction, I used the mask full on and found it to be fine and not irritating to my sensitive skin. It also didn't break me out either (#acneproneskinissues). This patch test only lasted 1 and a half days. Generally my sheet masks and hydro gel mask tests least 1 and a half days to 2 days, so it's within the norm.

Choosy Pink Pearl Lip Mask inside the protective films

If my lips are chapped, I would use my creamy lip mask as a light exfoliant before I apply this mask. This way it helps my lips hydrate better and I don't have to worry about dead skin.

I often find that the best way to apply the lip mask is from bottom up. Center your lip mask first than apply the mask starting from the bottom. Let it sit nicely and carefully apply upward, pushing out any air bubbles. This way the mask sits nicely and snugly without any air bubbles. The lip mask also stays better this way. I can move around with the mask without it falling off this way too. Although, I should mention that you can't talk or sneeze. If you do either, the mask will come off and you'll have to re-position it. How do I know this? Well, I sneezed. Do you know how hard it is to hold in a sneeze? >.< Anyways, yeah, if you got to sneeze or cough, be prepared to re-position your lip mask!

You can also choose to cut a line in the center of the mask to have it fit onto the lips nicely as well. I tried that my second time using the lip mask, however, I reverted back to my original method because it sits on my lips a lot nicer than cutting a line in the middle.

The instruction says to apply the mask for 5 to 30 minutes. However, I generally leave it on for 45 minutes to 90 minutes. I find that to be the best time frame for my lips and have just stuck to it. Even though I leave the mask on longer than the instruction says, it does not irritate my skin or anything. It does, however, plump my lips up a little more than if I left it on for only 30 minutes. Usually, during these 45 minutes to 90 minutes time, I would play with Momo, or catch up on my favorite TV show, or watch some web drama, etc. I could also be cleaning and organizing as well. Believe it or not, 45 minutes goes by really fast (when you are not trying to hold in a sneeze).

I actually fell asleep once with the lip mask on and woke up 3 hours later. I was happy to find that it still didn't irritate my sensitive and acne prone skin. Although, I've never left it on for 3 hours again.

The instructions also says to massage any remaining essence into the skin. However, by the time I take off my mask, the essence are usually absorbed already and there isn't any excess to be massaged in.

after the Choosy Pink Pearl Lip Mask

Here's what my lips look like after I took off the mask. It's definitely more plump than before although not by too much. I had originally thought that my lips would have a light pink pearl look to it, since this is the Pink Pearl lip masks. However, that does not seem to be the case. My lips were definitely not pearly, and if there was some pink color added to them, it was not noticeable.

I loved how it moisturized my lips! The dry areas on my lips were moisturized and my lips felt very soft. With lip balm care after, the effect lasted me 1 week! So I only do this lip mask once a week. Since I don't have any noticeable fine lines around my lips, I was unable to test whether they work on fine lines or not. I will have my Mom try the next lip mask with me for the next review so I can report on that!

I will say that you do not want to lick your lips after you use this mask. It taste horrible. I licked my lips out of habit and regret it the instance I did. So do not make the same mistake as I did. I can't even say what it actually taste like, it's just horrible. It definitely does not taste as sweet as it smells.

Pros:

-moisturizes the lips
-plumps and softens the lips
-has a nice sweet scent
-fit well
-affordable

Cons:

-taste horrible (Do Not lick your lips after)

Choosy Pink Pearl Lip Mask after it has been used
Once the mask is taken off, it's a little thinner than before. It's also stretched and looks like it doesn't have much, if any essence on it anymore.
My Rating: ❤ ❤

Final Thoughts: Aside from the not so pleasing aftertaste, this lip mask is perfect! I love how moisturizing and soft my lips feel after I use it. I love the plumping effect as well and it can last quite some time. I love that I only need to use this mask once a week because with proper care after each use, the moisturizing effects can last up to 1 week. I also love the sweet scent this lip mask have and how it is very affordable. I cannot wait to try the other lip masks and hope I will like them as much as this one!

Have you tried these Choosy lip masks before? Would you like to try them?

Until next time~

~Michelle
