Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil Review

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

Hey Dreamers and Creators!

Do you prefer cleansing oils or cleansing balms/sherbets? I generally prefer cleansing balms/sherbets because they're easy to use and travel with. However, once in a while I'll find a really good cleansing oil that's just too good to pass on. This Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil is one such product for me. I use this cleansing oil interchangeably with my HG cleansing sherbet and I love it. I'm almost done with my current bottle and I have a second one waiting for me in my stash. Let's get to know it!

Deep Cleansing Oil

Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil

Product Description: The Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil is a mild cleansing oil formulated with various vegetable oils. It contains Black Bean Oil to control sebum, soothe the skin and increase the skin's elasticity. The cleansing oil also contains Black Sesame Oil which helps to prevent dehydration and skin aging. Last but certainly not least, this cleansing oil contains Black Currant Seed oil to strengthen the skin, nourish it, and promote skin cell regeneration. This cleansing oil is easy to use and washes off with no issues. The formula is good for all skin types.

To Use: Pump out an adequate amount of cleansing oil onto palms on dry hands. Apply the cleansing oil on dry face and massage gently to remove makeup and impurities. Add a little water to emulsify the mixture and remove it all by rinsing with lukewarm water.

Packaging: All Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil comes in a dark brownish black pump bottle with a pump stopper. The bottle has information regarding usage, product description, ingredients, and more. I've seen 2 different types of outer packaging for this cleansing oil. The first is the one I have here, which is just a plastic wrapping all over (see previous picture). The second type of outer packaging is an outer box packaging. Although the outer packages are different, the products are still the same.

Scent: Herbal scents that's mild to medium in strength. Fragrance has been added to this product but it's not overwhelming or unpleasant.

Color: The cleansing oil is colorless. However, once emulsified, it'll look milky in color. (See picture below.)

Texture: Like many cleansing oils, this one feels like a runny oil. It's easy to apply and spread.

Michelle's Thoughts: When it comes to cleansing oils/balms/sherbets, I always put them though 2 tests. They are my patch test and cleansing test. I always patch test the product first as I need to know if the cleansing product is gentle enough for my skin and won't irritate it in any way. The Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil passed my test with flying colors and I love the mild to medium herbal scents. It's soothing and calming. After the patch test comes my cleansing test. My cleansing test generally includes a mixture of my hard to remove and not so hard to remove makeup products. With this test, I used a BB cushion, lipstick, a few eyeshadows (shimmer, glitter, and matte), waterproof mascara, eyeliner, and blush. As you can see in the image below, the cleansing oil removed my makeup completely. The eyeliner, mascara and lipstick needed a few extra massages but I didn't have to massage hard or anything. I've been using this cleansing oil interchangeably with my HG cleansing sherbet from Botanic Farm for a couple of months now, I can say I really like it. It cleanses well and it doesn't strip the skin of its moisture either.

There are 2 cons I have with this product. First is that it's not really travel friendly. Although it comes with a pump stopper to help prevent unwanted spills. I find the bottle can also leak a little as well. Not sure if it's just this bottle I got but I tried bringing it on a few trips (for safety I always store it in a ziplock bag) and each time it would leak a little. The second con is that I don't really like to use it to remove my eye makeup. This is mainly because it's easy for the cleansing oil to get into my eyes from time to time and when that happens it creates a hazyness that takes a whole lot of blinking and time to get rid off. I do try to be careful but you know with removing mascara and eye liners, sometimes it just happens. I still prefer to use a cotton pad and a separate eye makeup remover for my eye makeup. Other than that, I've been enjoying this cleansing oil and has no other issues with it.

oil cleansing test

Pros:
-cleanses well
-nourishing ingredients
-easy to use
-doesn't strip the skin

Cons:
-can be messy
-not really travel friendly

Finals Thoughts: I really like this cleansing oil. Although it's not perfect, it's still a gentle cleansing oil that cleanses well, contains nourishing ingredients, and it doesn't strip the skin. I like the soothing and calming herbal scent this cleansing oil has and it's super easy to use.

Would I repurchase it in the future? Most likely. I actually have another unopened bottle in my stash that I'll be getting to once I finish this bottle. Do I think this is worth a try? Yes! Check this out if you are looking for a gentle cleansing oil that contains nourishing ingredients and can cleanse away makeup and impurities without stripping the skin.
