TONYMOLY LIPTONE Lip Care Sticks Review

TONYMOLY LIPTONE Lip Care Sticks review.

Hey Dreamers and Creators!

What's your favorite lip balm? My favorite was the adorable macaron lip balm from It's Skin until 2 months ago when something unexpected happened and I had to stop using it. Since then, I've been digging through my stash to find something that can replace the macaron lip balm. The dig didn't take long because I found these TONYMOLY LIPTONE Lip Care Sticks I purchased early this year. I've always love lip balms in stick forms, as they are my preferred packaging because they are easy to use and more sanitary. While adorably packaged lip balms are too cute to say no to, I still dislike having to use my fingers to apply them. So, whenever I find promising lip balms in stick forms, I make sure to check them out.

The LIPTONE Lip Care line has 4 products. 3 lip balms and 1 lip scrub. These 2 I purchased are the lip balms in flavors rose and mint. There's also the honey flavored lip balm and the lip scrub, which is a sugar scrub that also contains shea butter.

I came across these TONYMOLY LIPTONE Lip Care Sticks by chance. I was browsing the Korean Tonymoly website hoping to add something to the hand cream I was getting when I saw these. I hesitated at first but since they were having a 1+1 sale (which they do often), I decided to get 2 of them to try.

Deciding to get 2 was the easy part, choosing the flavors was another story. (Does this happen to anyone else, when you just want all the flavors in the line?) I had a hard time deciding on the flavors. Ideally, I would like to get all 4. However, these weren't on my shopping list at the time and they were more of a spur of the moment type of purchase so I didn't want to over do it. I knew I wanted rose right off the bat because I like rose products and I was hopping the lip balm would taste like rose tea (which I love~). It was also easy to eliminate the lip scrub because I already have quite a few of those in my stash. So it came down to either the mint or the honey lip balm. I was going back and forth between the 2 and I literally made the decision just moments before I put in my order. It was a tough decision but as you can see, I opted for mint in the end.

Since the packaging and texture of these 2 lip balms are the same, I am going to list them here before I move onto individual reviews.

Packaging: I've been attracted towards simple and sleek packaging styles lately and these lip balms fits that category perfectly. The colors on the packaging is the exact color of the product. The packaging contains information about the product in both English and Korean.

Texture: These lip balms feels similar to other lip balms in terms of texture. It's balmy but a bit creamy as well. They both glides on easily and feels lightweight on the lips.

Rose lip balm packaging

Michelle's Thoughts: I kind of had a feeling I would like this lip balm and sure enough that turned out the be the case. The scent won me over and this is in my bag everyday. I love the rose scent this lip balm has. It reminds me of my favorite rose tea and it smell and tastes like roses. It does, however, also have a taste of that balmy lip balm taste but I guess it can't be helped. There are many reasons why I keep this is my bag and not the mint one (at least not at the moment). First, as I've mentioned before, the scent. It's delightful and I love it. Second, the radiant glow it leaves my lips after application. The third and the one that trumps Mint flavor, is the light rosy tint it has. It leaves my lips with a light tint of color that completes a simple look easily.

The lip balm is moisturizing and helps with retaining moisture as well. It applies easily and doesn't feel heavy on the lips either. I use it during the day whenever my lips feels dry and it does a great job adding moisture with a tint of color as well. I find the color isn't long lasting nor is it super pigmented but it works if you are just looking for a hint of color on the lips. The product isn't sticky either and its texture is balmy yet a bit creamy as well. It's super moisturizing and provides nutrients to the lips too. Making it a great product all year round.

Mint lip balm packaging

Michelle's Thoughts: I've always been picky with my mint lip balm choices. Mainly because some mint lip balms tingles just a little too much and it ventures into the unpleasant feeling zone for me. Which is why I don't usually get mint lip balms. However, I wanted to give this one a try and I'm glad I did. While it does have that peppermint tingly sensation when I apply it, it's not unbearably bad or anything so I am totally okay with it. Despite the fact that this Mint lip balm has the same texture has the Rose lip balm, their formulas are different. So, in my opinion, the Mint lip balm doesn't feel as moisturizing as the Rose lip balm. It does provide light moisture and enough for summer time, but I can't see myself using this in the winter. I do like the peppermint scent it has. It smells minty and feels refreshing. The Mint lip balm doesn't add color to the lips but it feels slightly lighter on the lips than the Rose lip balm.

Michelle's Rating: ❤ ❤

Final Thoughts: I really like both of these lip balms. They are easy to use and travel friendly. Rose is hands down my favorite of the two and I have it with me everyday. The scent is great, it's moisturizing, and adds a tint of color to the lips as well. The Mint lip balm is good too and perfect for the hotter months.

Would I repurchase them in the future? I think I'd like to get the Rose one again but I also want to try the Honey flavored lip balm as well. Do I think they are worth a try? Yes, I do! If you are looking for a lip balm that moisturizes, is easy to use & travel friendly, smells like roses and adds a natural tint of rose-coral color to the lips, than I'd suggest the Rose Lip Balm. If you like minty fresh lip balms that's light, moisturizing and refreshing, than I'd suggest the Mint Lip Balm.

  1. Just curious: what went wrong with the macaron lip balm? You seem to have really loved it!

    1. It wasn't the macaron lip balm's fault really. I had my makeup done back then and the makeup artist who did my makeup didn't clean her brushes well. So she ended up infecting both my lips and my lip balm (I brought my own lip balm to use). Anyways, my doctor said I should stop using the lip balm to be safe. So I had to find new ones :/
